Sunday we were able to celebrate the twins 30th birthday. Tessa was missed but thought of as she celebrated in California! Tally had a spa day and then a little party and Ammy and Bampa's. We grilled out ate cake and the little ones even cooled off in the sprinkler!

Happy Birthday Tally and Tessa!!! We love you!

Maine Event

Even though Hurricane Irene forced us out a little early, we had a great trip to Maine! We had lots and lots of fun with Grammy and Grampa! We went to the Children's Museum and played! It was full of really fun hands on goodies for the kids to experiment with. They cooked food, drove firetrucks, milked cows, flew space ships, and more! Of course we hit the farm and had lots of yummy meals!

Grammy and Grampa watched the babes one evening which allowed Trevor and I a fun early evening in the Old Port!

We were very disappointed that we weren't able to make it to Boston to see our Becca! We were forced to cancel our train tickets to Boston to avoid the storm and get home safely. Avery was upset but we are really trying to make another trip work soon!

A huge thanks to Grammy and Grampa for a great visit! You are so very good to us! We love you!

Struggling to become a big boy

The only thing constant is change.

Last Sunday, was the last time I read, rocked, and put my baby boy in his crib. This is my duty every night and I love it. He is so cuddly, he plays with my hair and hugs me as we enjoy a few minutes of quiet time before he goes to bed. Last week he was upset. He screamed when I laid him in his crib. I still held my own left, and told Trevor we just might have to give him a few minutes to settle himself down. Well, then I heard banging so I ran upstairs and opened his door. To my surprise he ran out and downstairs. Needless to say we were both shocked. He was so upset and refused to get back in his crib. I did try but he ended up sleeping on his changing pad on the floor. This went on for the next two days. Finally, even though I am so not ready, I moved his mattress out of the crib and onto the floor. He is much happier there but still isn't quite compliant with the bedtime routine. And for the record, he used to love going to bed and even tell me night night time. I think he is really wising up and knows that we are still up when he goes to bed. Dylan doesn't want to miss out! Even though it is hard to think my baby is getting so big, it just might be time to get him a big boy bed. Seven nights have now gone by...without the crib I guess it is on to bigger things. Where does the time go?

Ballet recital

My little ballerina just completed her summer session of ballet with two of her good friends Handley and Annabelle. We got to sit in on the last class and I really enjoyed seeing all they had learned. Avery really did enjoy the class and I am a bit upset with myself for not signing her up again. However, we are getting ready for soccer to start and I really don't want to over do it.

Ammy was able to come see Avery dance and it made her day! We all went to grab a bite at Chickfila afterwards and had lots of laughs! Thanks for fighting the traffic to join us for the big show! She is still practicing her leaps, and positions at the house and I just hope a little grace and poise stay with her this year!

Aquarium

We had a great long weekend with Uncle Scott and Auntie Lyn-Ann! Tons of fun playing around the house and going to the pool. A few fun meals and even a grown up date night. We also had an exciting day at the aquarium and got to see the dolphin show. We all enjoyed the fantastic show except Uncle Scott who thought it was a bit too cheesy. However, the rest of us were in awe of the awesome sea creatures!

Thanks for coming to visit Uncle Scott and Aunt Lyn-Ann! We love having you here and wish we lived closer!

Time flies when you are having fun!

With only two weeks of summer left we are packing in the fun! Avery had camp last week with one of her best friends at her preschool. She loved it! Dylan was the only one not old enough but he did humor us with a picture.

Dylan can say cheese and smile now! I just had to snap a few pictures with the fireman hat.

Then, we were off to the splash park to celebrate William's fourth birthday! What a fun way to keep cool and have fun!

Then Trevor and our monkeys headed to the zoo to enjoy a beautiful Sunday morning!

I just don't know if I am ready for school to start back. We have been enjoying mornings at the park and getting a little "fall" fever. Avery and Dylan are a whole lot of fun now and seeing them play together is as sweet as it gets!

We are looking forward to a visit from Aunt Lyn-Ann and Uncle Scott later this week. We will be celebrating their birthdays and jamming in some fun. Then, we get to excited for our trip to Maine and Boston!

The Sweetest Thing!

For weeks now I have been trying to decide how to write about this fairytale meant to be friendship. I am still not sure I can do it justice but I will try.

Once Upon a Time two families were out to dinner at the same delicious little restaurant. They happened to sit next to each other but separated by a big window (one family was outside and the other inside). The four year old Avery was drawn to a beautiful big girl (eight to be exact). So, she drew and colored her best picture and gave it to this beautiful girl. To her surprise the big girl we will call her Beanie drew her a beautiful picture with a sweet note. They talked to one another and even got their faces painted. And, that is how it all began.

By the time we were getting ready to leave I gave the sweet girl's mom Trevor's business card with my name, number, and email just in case we could ever set up a little play date where her daughter might be able to play and teach Avery big girl things.

A few weeks later we planned some fun play dates. Beanie came to our house with all of her favorite toys. Over the weeks she taught Avery and Dylan how to put on talent shows. They also made puppets and did puppet shows. They had movie afternoons, swim parties, dress up parties, and American Doll parties. Together they had so much fun and my Avery absolutely adores Beanie. Beanie was so kind and even included Dylan! He still asks for her just about everyday. She shared her love of nay nay's (horses) with Dylan. As a mom, I have always wanted a big sister role model for Avery and that is exactly what Beanie is, except better! She is wiser than her years, she has fantastic princess manors (all of which she taught Avery), and has the kindest heart. We really are so lucky to have bumped into her that hot summer evening.

I know this fairytale sounds very dreamy but it even gets better... she has a wonderful family! Great siblings and fantastic parents. Her Mom even taught me how to make hair bows one evening over dinner! We feel very fortunate to have gotten to know Beanie's family and we now know why she is such a wonderful young lady!

The bond Avery and Beanie have is something I have not seen before they are just so sweet together! Earlier this month Beanie and her family moved to be closer to her dad's job. We miss them terribly but are keeping in touch over email, texts, and letters. I am also very excited about a trip we have planned in a few weeks where we will be able to get the girls together again.

Sometimes in life when we least expect it something magical happens. That is the best way I can describe meeting Avery's "Beanie." I am excited to see how the girls maintain this special friendship over the miles.

To our favorite big girl...we love you and we miss you! Thanks for being so good to Avery and Dylan! They adore you and we are so excited to come visit you!!! XOXO
